Don't change your nature

With the effect of the pain, the old man let go the creature and it fell back into the water. The man realizing that the scorpion was drowning again, got back and tried to rescue it but then again it stung him. He let go of it again.

What's Your Negotiating Attitude?

Effective negotiations result from a combination of knowledge, experience, expertise, clear cut goals and aspirations, perspective, persistence and attitude. However, unless a negotiator enters the process with the right attitude, there will rarely be any opportunity for meaningful or long lasting success. When negotiations are successful, it brings on a meeting of the minds, where both sides truly communicate their needs and wants, and talk to each other rather than speaking at them!

Good communication with cutlery

Photo: How to communicate with cutlery?

Good table manners say a lot about an individuals' personality and upbringing. It is important to know the right way to use the cutlery.

1 When you use knife and fork, the knife is held in the right hand for cutting and the fork in the left hand.

2 While using a fork with a knife, the prongs face downwards.

3 Eating just with the fork, one must hold the upper part of the handle between the index and the middle finger and the thumb holds the fork steady. The prongs of the fork face upwards and the ring and the small fingers support the other fingers.

4 When you hold the knife, cover the end of the knife with your palm and rest the index finger about an inch down the handle to help you press firmly.

5 Cut a portion of the food for a mouthful, do not cut the entire food into small portions before eating.

6 For a sit down meal other pieces of cutlery are also laid but only two pieces are used at a time.

7 When eating do not wave your cutlery in the air to emphasise a point.

8 Put the knife and fork straight on the plate after use with the blade of the knife facing inwards.

STROKE: You could save a life.

Please have a look....This 5 min may save a life and lots of tears.....

You could save a life.

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters... S.T.R ...
My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.

During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance)

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.

Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

Remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions :

S * Ask the individual to SMILE ..
T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg 'It is sunny out today').
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

NOTE : Another 'sign' of a stroke is
1. Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue.
2. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.
A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.. and it could be your own..

PASS THIS ONE. . . . . .

Modern technology has brought us many benefits, including mosquito traps that cost a lot of money, but sometimes we overlook simple solutions to difficult challenges such as mosquito control. When it comes to controlling pests, research tends to focus on chemicals or concepts that can be patented. Unless someone can make a profit from an idea, the public may never become aware of it.

Bitterleaf: Not to be ignored

Ever heard of Bitter leaf?  As its name suggests, it is a plant whose main characteristic is it bitter stem and leaves. There also exists a species of the plant which produces a ‘sweet‘ leaf. Popular in most of West Africa and named after botanist, William Vernon, its botanical name is Vernonia, it belongs to the family of Asteraceae. Bitter leaf is also referred to as ironweed, a name coined from the intensely purple flowers which later take on a rusty hue. Bitter leaf is able to flourish in a variety of climates unlike other plants which are often native to certain areas. Although most popularly used for food, bitter leaf has also traditionally been used for its medicinal properties now proven by medical research. With around a thousand varieties, the bitter leaf plant’s uses range from antimicrobial to decorative. Some of the most common uses are noted below.

Value Counts More Than Price Alone!

Whether it is about selling or marketing a product, service, oneself, or effectively and meaningfully leading an organization, there is invariably a choice that must be made between simply addressing the price (or costs/ expense areas), or rather providing better value that justifies any expense and makes others believe that whatever something costs is well worth the expense. This requires a mindset that understands and perceives these four prerequisites: 1. It's not about what you pay, but what you get/ receive for that cost; 2. That value means different things to different people, and so both true value as well as perceived value must be addressed; 3. That whatever the expense or cost, that it fits a need and motivates others; 4. That it shows that you care!

Struggle With A Purpose

Anything worth having takes time, patience and a committed attitude to create change. I recall one weekend out enjoying a weekend of music there were words spoken by several recording artist who shared their personal testimonies of how good God truly is. I noticed when each shared their struggles with their past addictions they acknowledged and recognized the one and only true God that delivered them from their degradation of sin; these two entertainers struggled with a purpose. As they shared their testimony the whole building got extremely quiet for a moment as there was a seriousness and transparent attitude from each performer who identified their particular sins.

Osteoporosis is a highly prevalent disease among women; half of women over 50 will break a bone due to osteoporosis, according to the National Osteoporosis Foundation. Characterized by thinning of the bone that leads to fractures, the condition is caused by the fact that the body stops rebuilding bone fast enough to replace degeneration as we age. This generally begins in the mid 30's, but it usually doesn't pose any risks until women reach menopause. Men also suffer from osteoporosis, but usually at a much older age.

Substance Abuse and Stress

It is well understood that the effects of stress can lead to substance abuse. Stress is a part of life and there is no way to completely avoid stress, but what links it and substance abuse is largely due to the inability of the individual to deal with an increase in stress. How To Quit Smoking Easily and Permanently.

It is a sad fact that most of the common quit smoking techniques offered today either do not work at all or they only work for a limited time. The reason for this failure is that many methods such as patches, the various pharmaceutical drugs, nicotine gum etc focus solely on the physical side of the smoking addiction. In reality this is but an extremely small part of the whole smoking problem, and it is accepted by many researchers into the smoking problem to be as little as 5% of the whole issue.

Live Today: A Self-Reflection

As I am the type who spends so much time reflecting, I often wonder about what could have been. What would have happened if I stayed where I was, and never moved? What would have been if I had pursued specific goals more eagerly? What missed opportunities have I had? What mistakes have I made? These times of reflection, while good in a sense, as they allowed me to remember and learn from my past, can also be very detrimental. Dwelling on the past does nothing but fill time. Honor the past, prepare for the future and live in the present.

Mirrors for Reflection

Mirrors produce reflections of ourselves and our environment. By looking in a mirror we can see things on our face that we wouldn't normally be able to see through our own eyes. Mirrors also give us the ability to see how everything is connected to each other enough to reproduce a reflection. How can a mirror show connections?

Boundaries: Why Do Some People Let Others Walk All Over Them?

To walk all over a carpet or some kind of tiled floor would be normal. This is because the floor has no feelings and very few wants and needs for example. If the floor was used too much it may wear out; so it will need to be cleaned at certain times and it might even need to be replaced after a while.
But other than that, there is not going to be much concern. And yet when it comes to a human being, having someone walk all over them is going to create problems.

Your Relationship: Mend It, Don't End It

Most couples go through a period of huge growth, by firstly, becoming a couple, secondly, setting up a home and thirdly, creating and raising a family, but this takes a great toll on their resources in terms of time, energy and money. Not only do they become depleted, they often also stop growing, which in itself creates a feeling of dissatisfaction akin to loneliness, and thoughts of "Is this it?" They are like plants that have been kept in a small pot for too long, have become pot-bound, and desperately in need of space, sun and water.

EGO - A War in Corporate

Many of us spend a majority of our time at the workplace and are in constant touch with the colleagues, bosses and others. In a demanding and competitive work environment, tempers can rise and small issues can get blown out of proportion. When ego problems crop up at our place of work, we cannot focus on the task at hand, and this could hinder the entire functioning of an organization.
Further on, ego tussles develop when employees are of the mindset that "I" and not "We" contribute more towards the organization. Organizations with leaders or managers or even individuals who have ego issues experience low employee morale, limited creativity and high employee turnover. All these affect the employee productivity.

Proper Digestion Is the Key to Overall Good Health

The key to overall good health will not depend upon the kind of food you have or the regimen of exercise you follow. It is essential for you to understand that the food in your stomach needs to be digested properly if you want your overall health to be in optimal condition. In order to achieve this objective you must ensure that the numbers of good bacteria outnumber the numbers of bad or harmful bacteria within your stomach. This can be achieved through the help of supplements that are designed to keep your stomach in good condition.

Learn From Your Failures

In life, we no longer depend on our Intelligence Quotient as we did in middle school or high school, but as we get older, we have to be more dependent on our Failure Quotient instead. When you have a high Failure Quotient, it is likely that you will succeed. This is one of the factors that successful people have in common. As humans, we are not familiar with associating failure to success. When we consider high achievers; whether they are celebrity athletes or well-known politicians or even famous entrepreneurs, we generally consider them as being in a different world from us.
